St-Cat Guitar Collection

Collection Ste-Cat

In the spirit of promoting music making, the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal and the MGS created a permanent guitar collection bearing the name Ste-Cat. Made by renowned luthiers who have participated in the MGS, these choice guitars constitute an exclusive instrument collection, designed specifically to give concrete free assistance to young musicians in the form of one-year instrument loans. The instruments, whether classical, acoustic, archtop jazz, gypsy-style or electric guitars, are created from precious tonewoods and the highest quality materials. Each instrument bears not only the luthier's signature and the year in which it was made, but also the logo of the friendly, endearing cat Ste-Cat, who has become famous as a symbol of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, in addition to giving his name to the new prestigious instrument collection.

Here are a few pictures of some of the unique artworks created by these master craftsmen especially for the occasion.
